5-Star Michigan QB Commit On Ohio State "I Want To Kill Them"

JJ McCarthy looks like he was built to be a QB at Michigan. Not only does his 6’2, 180 LB body fit the frame, but look at that name. JJ McCarthy. That’s a Michigan QBs name.

The 5-star QB won’t suit up for Michigan until 2021, but his hate for Ohio State has already manifested:

SOURCE-For 5-star 2021 quarterback and Michigan commit J.J. McCarthy, he grew up loving Ohio State, but that love is now gone.

“I used to love them, now I want to kill them,” McCarthy told The Athletic.

The animosity began after Ohio State coach Ryan Day told McCarthy that they wouldn’t be taking a quarterback until the end of summer.

“Coach Day told me he wasn’t going to take (a 2021 quarterback) until the end of summer or anything like that because he wanted to make sure everything was all good, so I didn’t really worry about all that during my visit,” McCarthy said. “But I didn’t get that feeling when I was there. I really didn’t, with all the coaches there and how they interacted with us, I didn’t feel the big family tradition part of it. It was either you’re good at football or you’re over here. That’s what I felt.”

First off, I love the good ole fashion hate from JJ. He may be 16 or so, but he knows that if you’re coming to Michigan, you better hate the Buckeyes. Who knows, by the time JJ suits up, Ohio State may have won 9 in a row against the team up north.

Second, this is yet another example of just how weird recruiting is. If you don’t put on a perfect day for a 16-year-old, he is going to turn around and hate you for life. Oh, you spent 6 minute with this recruit instead of 4 mintues with me? I now have a personal vendetta against you for the rest of my life.

God bless the coaches in college who recruit on a daily basis. Not only are you dealing with 16-year-olds, but you are dealing with their parents who are even more crazy and we aren’t even mentioning their high school coaches!!!! If you are a college coach reading this, god bless you….god bless you.
