It's Raining, This Slate of Games Stinks, Let's Win (Including Nate Dogg Special)

It’s a shitty day, guys. Last night was a late night with the Nationals game and west coast hockey, and now today is just gross. It’s raining, it’s crappy outside, the ALCS game has been postponed, and the rest of the games are not moving the needle for me. Having said that, just because there are crappy games, doesn’t mean we can’t find winners. In fact, I think we’ve got some decent games to win with here. We even have the Nate Dogg special here tonight. Let’s do it.

Rainy Wednesday Winners:

Colorado Avalanche v San Jose Sharks - Game Seven

Colorado Avalanche at Pittsburgh Penguins (-110)

Colorado is the lone undefeated team left in the NHL at this point. They have been explosive on offense and Philipp Grubauer has been solid for them in net. The Avs are a ton of fun to watch as they are led by superstar Nathan MacKinnon. The Pens are always tough at home, but they are dealing with injuries and this is a short price for a Colorado team that is rolling right now.

THE PICK: Colorado ML

NHL: MAR 26 Hurricanes at Capitals

Toronto Maple Leafs at Washington Capitals (-125)

The Leafs just won last night at home against Minnesota and now they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Caps. I like Washington here for a few reasons. First, they are more rested than Toronto after the aforementioned game against Minnesota. Also, the Leafs are starting backup Michael Hutchinson in net tonight. I think Washington has a fairly decided edge based on those factors.

THE PICK: Washington ML

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 01 Louisiana Tech at South Alabama

South Alabama at Troy (-17)

I like Troy here, but I don’t like this number. Having said that, I don’t trust Cephus Johnson and the Jaguars either. What I do think will happen is Troy will be able to score and they will stop the run which will force Johnson to throw. He’s not great at it. I think the play here is on the total rather than the side.

THE PICK: Under 55.5

NHL: OCT 02 Canucks at Oilers

Philadelphia Flyers at Edmonton Oilers (-125)

This is a short price to pay to get an Edmonton team in this spot. Edmonton is off to a very hot start, they are at home, and they are more rested. Philly finishes up their Alberta swing after falling to the Flames in Calgary last night. Now they have to deal with Connor McDavid and an Edmonton team that is scoring in bunches. I’ll take the home team here.

THE PICK: Edmonton ML

San Jose Sharks v Chicago Blackhawks

Carolina Hurricanes at San Jose Sharks (-125)

Carolina is off to an incredibly hot 6-1 start, while San Jose has stumbled out to a 2-4 open to the season. The Sharks were without Evander Kane for three games to begin the season. Carolina has been impressive, but it is important to remember, there is still a lot of talent on this San Jose team. I think they step up defensively tonight against a Carolina team on the second night of a back to back. I like San Jose.

THE PICKS: San Jose ML AND Nate Dogg Special: Under 6.5
