Let’s get right into this thing. Last night was a successful night with some nice wins, but that was yesterday. This is today. This is now. This is all that matters. We have a lot to weed through here and I’ve got some plays that I feel pretty sexy about. We’ve been rolling pretty hot lately, so we have to keep that energy and momentum going as we move on to tonight’s massive card. Let’s get it.

Thursday Winners:

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: AUG 31 Louisiana v Mississippi State

Louisiana-Lafayette (-6.5) at Arkansas State

Lafayette travels to take on an inferior Arkansas State team tonight on Thursday night. I like the Ragin’ Cajuns, but not enough to lay those points on the road. They are a run heavy offense. They do it well, but their entire offense is predicated off the run. One or two fruitless possessions and it will be hard to hit this total. I’m saying it stays under.

THE PICK: Under 69

Divisional Series - Minnesota Twins v New York Yankees - Game One

Houston Astros at New York Yankees (-135)

I have been on the Yankees all day and I’m not going to waiver now. They have to have this game, plain and simple. Go down 3-1 to Houston with Verlander and Cole looming and you’re dead. The Yankees also get to face Zach Greinke tonight who is abysmal in the Bronx. In his career in Yankee Stadium, Greinke is 0-3 with an ERA approaching 10. I’ll take the Yanks and lay the short price.

THE PICK: Yankees ML

Houston Texans v Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs (-3) at Denver Broncos

This game had me in a pretzel for a bit. It feels like a trap line. But then again, Denver also feels like a trap. There’s traps everywhere. Having said that, I’ll take Mahomes and the Chiefs to bounce back off two straight losses. I just have a hard time seeing Denver and Joe Flacco hand Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs their third straight L. Denver’s defense has been good, but not as good as in the past. And yeah I know they shut out Tennessee last week, but I don’t know how much that says.

THE PICK: Kansas City -3

Nashville Predators v Vegas Golden Knights

Ottawa Senators at Vegas Golden Knights (-320)

Every game the Senators have lost has been by more than one goal and every game Vegas has won has been by more than one goal. Vegas is off a home loss to Nashville and Ottawa is the worst team in the NHL. I have no choice here but to lay the puck line.

THE PICK: Vegas -1.5 (-125)

Arizona Coyotes v Winnipeg Jets

Nashville Predators (-110) at Arizona Coyotes

I’m riding a let down factor here with Nashville. They had a big road win in Vegas, maybe stuck around and celebrated a bit, now head down the road to Arizona where they face a hot Darcy Kuemper. Also, Pekka Rinne is not in net tonight, rather its likely Jusse Saros. I’ll bet the letdown for the Preds.

THE PICK: Arizona ML +100
