BlackJack's College Football Extravaganza

Alright, baby, we’re rolling now. 4-2 last night, a combined 8-3 in the last two days. Things are starting to heat up a bit in here. Now we have a huge slate today and it’s time to keep this son of a bitch rolling. We have a lot of games, but that’s because I like a lot of these. Do what you will with them, but this is what I’m on today, baby.

WINNERS:

TCU v Kansas State

Oklahoma (-24) at Kansas State

This feels like a little bit of a let down spot for Oklahoma, no? I don’t mean a letdown like they’ll lose the game, but a letdown like they win by seventeen. This is an eleven am local time kickoff, on the road, against a well coached team that can play some defense. I like K-State to try and grind this thing out and slow OU down as much as possible.

THE PICK: Kansas State +24

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 22 Armed Forces Bowl - Houston v Army

San Jose State at Army (-9.5)

Army has disappointed me a couple times this year, but I’m going back to the well because I love the troops. Also, we all know Army loves to run the triple option and SJSU is 124th in the nation in rushing defense. Combine that with cross country travel and a noon kickoff, I think Army should run wild.

THE PICK: Army -9.5

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 03 Georgia Southern at South Alabama

Appalachian State (-27.5) at South Alabama

App State was Rico Bosco’s “lock of the week”. So I’m taking South Alabama. It’s really that simple, but also for some reason South Alabama finds its way on my card more often than not and so I’ve seen them play more than most. They don’t win, but they do compete. I think they give App State a little bit of a scare, but ultimately lose and keep it within the number. Also, fuck you “Rico”.

THE PICK: South Alabama +27.5

TCU v Kansas State

Texas (-1.5) at TCU

This line stinks to high heaven. I don’t get it, I don’t know what Vegas knows, but I know they know something. Yeah, that’s right. Have fun diagramming that sentence. This line is begging you to take Texas. A high profile, nationally ranked team, visiting a little brother type rival who is having a down year. All that and the number is less than a field goal, and not moving? They want you to take Texas.

THE PICK: TCU +1.5

Northwestern State v LSU

Auburn at LSU (-10)

Auburn Freshman QB Bo Nix is not only Glenny Balls’ favorite college football player, but he is a very talented kid. The problem is Bo Nix struggles on the road and plays markedly better at home. Not a shocker for someone with little to no experience. Unfortunately for him, this game is in Death Valley. LSU will not be a welcoming host. I think the LSU Tigers roll today.

THE PICK: LSU -10

Oklahoma State at Iowa State (-10.5)

It’s rare when a Big 12 under speaks to me. This one does. Iowa State has sort of steadied their ship of late, and they have done it, ironically, with defense. Also, as much as Oklahoma State can stink defensively, they are better against in conference opponents. Those factors combined with a relatively high number, should lead us to an under.

THE PICK: Under 64.5

Mississippi State v Tennessee

South Carolina (-4.5) at Tennessee

South Carolina comes into Knoxville today off two highly emotional games against Georgia and Florida. Those are major rivalry games and South Carolina performed really well. Now they travel to Knoxville to face a Tennessee team that is playing hard. The Vols play solid defense and if true freshman QB Brian Maurer can go today, they have an excellent shot to pull the upset. They played well against Alabama last week until Maurer got hurt and the one who must not be named came in.

THE PICK: Tennessee ML +170

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 05 Utah State at LSU

Utah State at Air Force (-3.5)

I know Air Force is off to a very nice start to their season. Still, Utah State is a very talented team with an actual NFL QB on the roster. I think Jordan Love and the Aggies will be able to do enough of what they want against Air Force’s defense to lock up an outright win tonight.

THE PICK: Utah State ML +145

Let’s cash some tickets, baby!
