Let's Play an Afternoon Pick Five at Indiana Grand

Breeders' Cup - Day 2

I just got back from Southern California and a week of horse racing at the most beautiful track in America. Needless to say I’ve got a bit of a horse racing bug at the moment and I figured I’d put it out there so everyone can play along. That really is the best thing about horse racing is you can bet it somewhere every single day of the year. Also you can go in on bigger bets with your buddies and it doesn’t cost much, but you still have the opportunity to potentially win big.

Looking at today’s available cards, Indiana Grand might be the best track of the bunch, so that’s where we’ll go. You want to bet the best tracks you can because you get better trainers and better jockeys. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched a race at Finger Lakes or something and seen a jockey have a horse five wide unnecessarily. Bet the best tracks you can, and today I’m going Indiana Grand. This Pick Five starts at 2:15pm eastern, if you miss the first race or second you can get in for a Pick Three or Four.

BlackJack’s Pick Five:

Race One: (1) Native Lion is a bit of a long shot here but in this class his recent Beyer speed figures are respectable enough to take a shot. (4)Beentheredonethat is the best horse on paper in this field and the 4/5 morning line shows it. Must include. (9)Wanna Have Fun is a real long shot here but his last speed figures warrant inclusion.

Race Two: (3)Classiest is aptly named in this race. She is trained by Tom Amoss who is a world class trainer, I like her here a lot. (9)Olive U has run the best races lately of this group and should be considered as trainer Sterritt Kendal can’t be ignored here.

Race Three: (2) Sunset Paula Jo has the hot hand on the mount today in John McKee. (3) Wholehearted is a little bit of a long shot, but with a speed figure of 92 most recently, it’s worth a shot at some value on this ticket. Also she is out of Awesome Again which is wort a bit here. (4)Ever Wonder might well go off as the favorite and is right there with the (2) at the top of this field.

Race Four: (1) Malibu Wood is my single here. On paper this horse should not lose this race. Great figures all the way around.

Race Five: The (6) Lady Blue and (7)Little Peeker are essentially the same horse on paper and I’m going to use them both here. I’m also using the (8) Miss Americain as a value play here at the end of the ticket.

BlackJack’s Indiana Grand Early Pick Five: 1,4,9/3,9/2,3,4/1/6,7,8

Cost: $54

Let’s cash this ticket, baby!
