Gasparilla Bowl Betting Primer: Doc Holliday Is An ATS Bowl Legend

The Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl. A legendary event that happens every year. This time we are blessed with a Monday afternoon bowl game to help you get through one of your last days of work before Christmas.

I teased it in the headline, but Marshall coach Doc Holliday is an ATS bowl legend. He is 6-0 at Marshall ATS in bowl games. That may not be a huge sample size, but it is still incredibly impressive and shows that he is a great coach when he has an extended period to prep for a game.

Holliday will be taking on a UCF team who just can't be that excited to play in this game. Coming off two straight NY6 games, UCF is now in the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl on a Monday afternoon. That's like going from a 9 to a 3. Would that get you excited? Definitely not.

Holliday's squad faced this exact situation last year. Going up against a disappointed AAC team (South Florida) playing a low tier bowl game in their own state at the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl. Marshall took it to USF. Final score? 38-20.

Before that game, I mentioned how important a Florida bowl game is for Marshall and the future of their program. Holliday uses Florida as a recruiting pipeline to continue a great CUSA program at Marshall. There will be a lot of recruits in the crowd today and the coaching staff knows a victory will be important for the quality of their future recruiting classes. Marshall wants to win this game.

15.5 points is just too many for me not to take. Marshall had a tougher schedule this season (46 to 91) and has the talent to stay in this game. Don't overthink this one. Take Marshall and maybe even sprinkle a little on the money line if you are feeling wild.

Pick: Marshall +15.5
