BlackJack and Lo Duca's Will Rogers and Fonner Picks

Listen, I'm no fan of the shenanigans at Fonner Park last week for their big Pick Five payout, but when you see a ticket that feels good, personal vendettas be damned, you have to play it. That's how I feel about this Pick Five at Fonner today. I don't necessarily want to play it, but damn it I'm going to. Here's why.

BlackJack's Fonner Park Pick Five:

First Race: My top choice here is (4) Witt's Data Link, I saw this horse run at Sam Houston, which was headier competition than most have faced at Fonner. The son of Data Link out of Claiborne Farm is the classiest horse here. The only addition to my ticket here is the (7) based on his improvement in his last race which was a second place finish.

Second Race: This race is absolutely wide open. These horses have very little separating them in terms of class and speed figures, so we're going to go deep. The one I like best is the (4) Dirty Dixie Road and that's based on the logical step up. This horse wired the field last time out and now is stepping up to non winners of three, feels logical. I'm also using (2), (6), (7) and (8).

Third Race: The (7) Aunt Gayle has finished in the money in her last three starts, which makes her a logical choice here. I think her speed figures match up favorably over the rest of the field, but if there was one horse to pull the upset, the (1) Jamil's Inferno has caught my eye, because she has shown that if she gets to the front she has the ability to run away.

Fourth Race: The (2) Possibly In Love is the horse to beat here. Three starts in his career, one second and two firsts. This horse has shown improvement and ability in spades. A single.

Fifth Race: This race is tricky, because there are inconsistent workers here. But we're at $10 per horse so we can get some coverage. My top choice is the (2) Perfect Line. His best race wins this thing. The problem is, as with the 1,4, and 7, he can lay the occasional egg. So, to counter that, I will use all four of those horses and bank on one of them showing up with a solid effort, as they have all shown in the past.
