There Are Reports The NHL Could Be Returning To The Olympics; This Is A Big Deal

Obviously nothing is set in stone yet, but it sounds like the NHL could be returning to the Olympics in 2022 and 2026. Just an electric start to the morning. First, we got the Bob Father dropping bombs left and right, reporting that the NHL is likely to chose Toronto and Edmonton as the two Hub cities for the return to play. Then we get this from LeBrun....if the NHL and NHLPA agree to the new CBA set in place last night, NHL players would be playing in the next two Olympics in Beijing in 2022 and Milan in 2026.

There is nothing in the hockey world I want more than for NHL players to be at the next Olympics. The league is as talented as it's ever been and getting to showcase that talent on the worlds biggest stage would be astronomical in helping grow the game.

Imagine what the United States vs Canada would look like?

Matthew Tkachuk - Auston Matthews - Patrick Kane

Johnny Gaudreau - Jack Eichel - Jake Guentzel

Kyle Connor - Dylan Larkin - Brock Boesser

Brady Tkachuk - Blake Wheeler - Jack Hughes

vs

Taylor Hall - Sidney Crosby - Nathan MacKinnon

Steven Stamkos - Connor McDavid - Mitch Marner

Jonathan Huberdeau - Patrice Bergeron - Brad Marchand

Mat Barzal - Ryan O’Reilly - Brayden Point

Chief wrote a great blog about the USA's roster a while back too. But first off, fielding a team with these names should be illegal. You finish reading the US roster and you're like wow, this team is going to do some damage, then you look at Canada and realize Brayden Point is playing on their 4th line. Imagine getting this level of hockey for two straight weeks? Not to mention the rosters of Sweden, Finland, and Russia would be absolutely loaded. I actually think the German roster will look pretty good as well. Do I think the US team should be worried? Absolutely not. There is not a single doubt in my mind that the Americans could win Gold. Not one.

If the NHL gets this done this would be a huge deal. You finally get the best hockey players playing on the world's biggest stage. The fans will be happy, the players will be happy and most importantly it will help grow the game more than anyone could imagine.
