BlackJack's Best Bets of the Day

Alright, we had a nice little 2-0 day yesterday with the Lightning winning in a marathon against Columbus and Portland and Damian Lillard covering their game as well. Hopefully the Bruins pull out a win as well against Carolina. Now today we move back out onto the battlefield and we place our wagers. I've got two hockey games and an NBA matchup that I like today. I will say, I don't usually "rank" my plays, but there is one that jumps off the page at me today, so have at that one. Let's go!

New York Islanders vs. Washington Capitals (-135, O/U 5.5)

This is going to be fun. Barry Trotz and the Isles against Trotz former team in D.C. It's also a clash of styles. The Islanders are the defensive oriented team that wants to grind you down and the Capitals have become much more reliant on their offensive prowess since Trotz' departure. Come playoff time, I generally lean to the defensive teams, which considering how the Isles' played against Florida, is not hard to do. I'll take the plus money here with a live dog.

THE PICK: New York +115

Arizona Coyotes vs. Colorado Avalanche (-180, O/U 5.5)

The Coyotes did a really nice job handling Nashville in the play-in round. Credit to them. But, man do they seem to be in over their heads here. Colorado is one of the best teams in the league this season and they seem to be head and shoulders better than Arizona right now. I think this could get ugly, I LOVE Colorado in this series.

THE PICK: Colorado Puck Line (-1.5, +160)

Miami Heat (-3, O/U 220) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

This game has seeding implications for both teams, as the Heat try to lock down the four seed in the East and the Thunder are seeking the five seed in the West. I think Miami needs this one a little more though. They've had injury issues throughout the bubble and need to find some kind of rhythm heading into the playoffs. The Heat could use a boost here more so than OKC, I'm going to lay the short number with Miami.

THE PICK: Miami -3
