Trysta's Teasers: SUNDAY UPDATE On Your WNBA Picks For The Weekend

Welcome to your Weekend WNBA Betting Guide, where we'll be betting and (definitely) winning on the WNBA all season.

As I write this, it’s not entirely certain that the WNBA will be playing tonight. Alongside the NBA, the players, coaches and staff of the WNBA have been leading the way on social justice reform not just in the wake of the shooting in Kenosha, but pretty much the past few years. Several of their best players have taken time off from playing to pursue social justice work, including Renee Montgomery And Maya Moore.

The connection between NBA and WNBA players runs deep, and it’s not just the late, great Kobe Bryant (RIP Mamba). I recently interviewed Nate Robinson, who was a #GirlDad long before it was a social hashtag.

There are three games tonight, but as I said they may be cancelled. I’m not sure. But we’ll review them anyway. With games cancelled Wednesday and Thursday and no games Monday, I’m 2-1 this week heading into the weekend.

The 7:00 EDT game sees the surging Minnesota Lynx take on the Atlanta Dream. The Lynx opened as -8.5 favorites (O161.5) and have been 8-3 in their past 11 ATS. The Dream are 2-5-1 in their past 8. Atlanta’s Chennedy Carter should make her return tonight, which will help, but I think the Lynx have too much here.

THE PICK: Minnesota -8.5

The middle game tonight is the Los Angeles Spark vs the Connecticut Sun. The Spark are -4.5 favorites (O159.5) and are 7-2 ATS while the Sun have won 5 of their last 7 straight up. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (F) and Bria Holmes (G) are questionable for the Suns. I definitely like the Over in this game.

THE PICK: O159.5

The final game of the night pits the Washington Mystics vs the Phoenix Mercury. Phoenix is -3 (O168) but this is basically a toss up game. Both teams have been straight trash of late; Washington is 1-8-1 ATS while Phoenix is 1-5. GTFO. This is your basic trash vomit game.

THE PICK:  Mystics +3

Hopefully these games will be played tonight, but as of this writing it’s not a certainty. Of course, I'll update this blog over the weekend, and although you may hate the WNBA with the burning fire you reserve for your ex-girlfriend who you caught sexting her ex while you played Fortnite with the boys -- remember, these women can make you money.

Saturday Update

The WNBA returned to play last night after two days off, and it was a strange night. Remind me to never bet the Mystics ever again. 4-3 with the Lynx over but we’re looking to do better today.

The first game of the day (noon EDT) is the Trash Bag New York Liberty (2-11) against surging Las Vegas (11-3). The Liberty are 1-6 ATS and Vegas is 5-2 ATS (10-1 straight up). Don’t overthink this one. Vegas is FOR REAL. The line is Vegas -16.5 (O168.5).

THE PICK: Vegas -16.5

The second game pits the Seattle Storm vs the Chicago Sky in a terrific match up between two surging teams. Sue Bird is OUT for the Storm which is why the line is only Seattle -5.5 (O165.5). Seattle is 6-3 ATS and Chicago 4-1 ATS of late, but Chicago is a bit banged up with Deshields and Stevens listed as questionable. Seattle played terribly last time out without Bird.

THE PICK: Chicago +5.5

The final game of Saturday pits the Dallas Wings against the Indiana Fever in what is basically a pick ‘em game. Two very similar and evenly matched teams, with the line favoring the Wings -1.5 (O165.5). A tough game to pick.

THE PICK: Dallas -1.5

Let’s go out and stack some cash! See you all tomorrow morning.

SUNDAY UPDATE

Sometimes you got to trust in your gut; the damn New York Liberty didn’t know it was an exhibition yesterday, they thought it was a damn fight! And they almost screwed us, but fortunately Las Vegas covered the -16.5 by a half point and all is right with the world. If you had only bet against the Liberty this year, you’d be up +20u. Love those ladies. Ended the night 2-1 for a 5-4 weekend headed into the Sunday games.

Today’s slate of games begin with the Connecticut Sun against the Washington Mystics. I keep thinking the Mystics cannot possibly be as bad as they are, and I keep being wrong. Straight up trash vomit. Connecticut opens as a -4.5 favorite (O163.5) before the line settled at -5/0161.5. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (F), Bria Holmes (G), and Brionna Jones (C) are questionable for the Suns, but the Mystics are 1-9-1 ATS. Enough said.

THE PICK: Connecticut Sun -5

The second game today is Phoenix vs Minnesota. The Lynx do very, very well against everyone but the top 3 teams in the league. Note: Phoenix is not in the top 3. The line opened at Minnesota -3.5 (O165.5) before settling at -4.5 (O165.5). Phoenix is 1-4 ATS and Minnesota 4-1 in the past week. For the Mercury, Bria Hartley (G) is out while Nia Coffey (F) and Sophie Cunningham (G) are questionable, and of course Brittney Griner is MIA. This promises to be a slog of a game. I think the Under is a good bet.

THE PICK: u165.5

The final game of the weekend is Atlanta vs Los Angeles. The line opened with L.A. at -14.5 (O164) and remains basically the same -14.5 (O164.5). Atlanta has against all odds played better of late, 2-6-1 ATS while the Sparks continue to play well at 7-3 ATS. Both teams are healthy but that is a LOT of points to give.

THE PICK: u164.5

Well, that’s another weekend of Bet the Chicks. Listen we’re making bank on these ladies. Remember, the WNBA plays this Monday to make up games that we cancelled last week as we head into the playoffs.
