Trysta’s Teasers: The WNBA Semifinals Continue Tonight, Let’s Make MONEY
Two incredible games in the Wubble on Tuesday have set the MOOD for the WNBA playoffs. In the first game, the Connecticut Sun (up 1-0 in the series after foot stomping the Aces in Game 1 hung tough once again despite losing Alyssa Thomas early in the game. In fact, it was 75-75 with about a minute and a half left when A’ja Wilson, the reigning MVP, made her presence felt and closed out the Sun 83-75 with a couple of And Ones. That series is tied 1-1 and heating up.
The second game (the first in the series since COVID canceled the Sunday game) saw the Minnesota Lynx not just hang with the heavy favorites Seattle Storm, but actually hold a lead into the last minute of a very, very exciting game. In a tough break for the Lynx, with the game tied 86-86, Seattle’s Sami Whitcomb missed a contested layup with 1.5 seconds left only for it to fall into the waiting hands of Alysha Clark who tipped it in with no time left. Heartbreaker for the Lynx, who were (once again) without one of their stars in Sylvia Fowles, who can’t seem to shake her calf injury.
The games tonight should be just as fun.
Seattle takes on Minnesota in Game 2 in the early game (7:30 EDT ESPN2) in what should be more of the same. Minnesota covered in Game 1. The Storm’s Sue Bird seems to be healthy (and playing well) but Sylvia Fowles is still listed as questionable, and it’s a big hole in the Lynx line up. The line opened at -7.5 (o164.5) and settled there (o163.5).

The 9:30 EDT game (ESPN) sees a 1-1 series enter Game 3 between the Sun and the Aces. Las Vegas saved its season and A’ja Wilson showed everyone why she’s the boss. Las Vegas opened at -7.5 (o159.5) then dropped to -6.5 (160.5). The big storyline is the loss of the Sun’s star Alyssa Thomas, who has been ruled out for the game (and maybe longer) with a shoulder injury. HUGE loss. It changes the entire dynamic of this series, and the Sun bench will have to step up if they don’t want to drop three in a row. I’ll be honest, things aren’t looking great right now for the Sun, but they are a tough and resilient team.
