The Preakness Pick Is In

The Preakness is right around the corner and I have finally made a decision. Let me start by saying I'm not the biggest fan of Authentic. He's a very good horse, no doubt, but I don't think he's in the class of Baffert's really great ones. He may prove me wrong today, but I'm skeptical. I think today shapes up as a bit of a pace duel. Authentic is going to go for the lead. I think Art Collector, Thousand Words, and Swiss Skydiver will be forwardly placed and press him up front. That sets up for a closer in this race. There are two that have my eye and they're from the same barn.

Steve Asmussen has the (10) Pneumatic, who is my top pick. This horse ran a very nice race in the Pegasus at Monmouth in a win in his last start. He seems to be improving at the right time and the race sets up for his style. The other horse is the (8) Max Player. Asmussen is as good as anyone out there in second starters. He's been solid in big races and could improve here. I'm betting both the (8) and (10) across the board for a price.

Also if you're betting Tri's or Super's, don't leave off the (11) Liveyourbeastlife. That horse ran a very good Jim Dandy at Saratoga and could easily improve off of it.

Let's win this thing!
