My Saturday College Football Card
I am going to do weekly blogs with my college football & NFL plays for football season. I am so fired up to prove to the Stoolies I am not the losing gambler in football that Dave crucified for wretched CWS picks in Omaha. So far I am 8-3 to start the season.

Under 24.5 Penn State/Wisconsin (1H)
I always like Unders in week 1 as offenses tend to start slow and take few weeks to get in a rhythm. This game will be a physical Big 10 slugfest between two teams desperate to bounce back from disappointing seasons.
Under 27.5 Stanford/Kansas State (1H)
This game is being played in Dallas at Jerry World. Both teams like to play physical and grind it out on offense with a lack of game breakers out wide. Neither tend to run too much up tempo which should shorten the half too.
Oklahoma -20.5 vs. Tulane (1H)
I feel like a horrible person going against the displaced New Orleans school after Hurricane Ida tore the city up. This game was scheduled at Tulane and will be made up there in 2024. Tulane was already in huge trouble but having to go on road and prepare for this elite offense behind Spencer Rattler and Lincoln Riley during a hurricane is way too tall of a task.
Western Michigan +17 at Michigan
Super Bowl here for Western Michigan who is one of the best teams in the MAC. The arrow is pointing down for Jim Harbaugh’s bunch and I Western will play so hard to keep the game fairly close.
Afternoon Slate
Fresno St +20 at Oregon
Even if it is week 1, Oregon is in a peek ahead (credit Rico Bosco) spot with a trip to Ohio State looming. Jeff Tedfird’s bunch is no joke and has some talent on offense. Fresno is also known for not being afraid to go on road to battle power programs historically. I am also curious if Oregon made right move going with BC transfer QB Anthony Brown.
Under 26.5 Rice/Arkansas (1H)
Rice has no offensive firepower and a top 40 defense. They also huddle and slow the game down. Arkansas also has a good defense behind DC Barry Odom. I am not sure QB KJ Jefferson is the answer and Razorbacks did not blow anyone away on offense last year either.
Alabama -19 vs. Miami (FL)
Every time we hear the U is back they get demolished. I have faith in new 5 star Bama QB Bryce Young and the Tide is loaded on Defense this fall. Miami QB D’Eriq King’s first game back off a torn ACL in bowl game being against Alabama is too much for me.
Iowa -3.5 vs. Indians
The Hawkeyes are extremely tough and consistent at home. Indiana was a great story last fall but I anticipate the Hoosiers having some trouble sustaining success. This is a brutally tough Big 10 road trip for Week 1 and the Hawkeyes take care of business.
Under 23.5 Marshall/Navy (1H)
Marshall’s Defense should be ready for the triple option after having the off-season to prepare. This one should start pretty slow.
Maryland +3 vs. West Virginia
Maryland is explosive on offense behind little Tua and speedy WRs. They tend to parlay well as an underdog and struggle as a favorite. West Virginia was not good on offense at all last fall either. Live home dog here.
ULL (+8.5) at Texas
ULL has 20 returning starters behind Billy Napier from a 10 win team. They will not be afraid of Texas after huge road win at Iowa State week 1. I like the Sarkisian hire for Texas but they are breaking in new QB. This will be a dog fight and I am taking the 8.5 points.
Night Slate
Over 51 Georgia/Clemson
I do take Overs occasionally too! I really like both QBs. Despite strong defenses, I think 51 is too low of a total in this one. Going to pass on the spread and just cheer for the over in this titanic week 1 top 5 battle.
UTSA +5 at Illinois
Great spot to go against Illinois after their safool’s gold win over wretched Nebraska in week 0. UTSA is one of the best teams in CUSA and will be ready to face a Big 10 team
LSU -1.5 at UCLA
I am against the whole company in this one. The line has come down from 4.5 after UCLA hammered a bad Hawaii squad 44-10. I am concerned about LSU dealing with Hurricane Ida some but I like the Tigers this fall to bounce back strong from 5-5 2020 season. I have faith in QB Max Johnson, lots back on both lines and the top CB combo in the country. LSU also historically does well in big week 1 non conference games. LSU gets big win in Rose Bowl to start the season and shut Brandon Walker up!
