Forecaster Frank's Lessons From Week 2

After a mediocre first week, I did much better in Week 2, finishing 10-6 in my picks. I am 17-15 on the season.

Thursday Night

Was -3 (o/u 40.5)

Pick Washington 13 Giants 6

Score Washington 30 Giants 29

The Giants had a million chances to win but shot themselves in the foot. It appears things are crumbling, and it will be a long season for Big Blue, as Washington won a squeaker.

Result LOSS

Sunday at 1

NO -3.5 (o/u 44.5)

My Pick Saints 27 Panthers 17

Result Panthers 26 Saints 7

The Saints offense looked to be in a fog, as the offense never got on track and Jameis Winston, who has always struggled against Carolina, had a terrible game; perhaps it was the offensive coaches who missed the game with COVID, at least that is what the Saints can hope was the cause.

Result LOSS

Chi -2.5 (o/u 44.5)

My Pick Bears 20 Bengals 17

Score Bears 20 Bengals 17

The Bears defense is stout, even though the offense could use some work; oh, by the way, the score, yeah, I NAILED IT.

Result WIN

Cle -12.5 (0/u 47.5)

My Pick Browns 37 Texans 20

Score Browns 31 Texans 21

The Browns kept Houston in the game and got the win but failed to cover the large spread. We need to remember that the Browns have a habit of keeping lowly teams in the game.

Result LOSS

Ind +3.5 (o/u 47.5)

My Pick Colts 31 Rams 27

Score Rams 27 Colts 24

The Colts had a chance to let me nail this one, but Carson Wentz got hurt again. I mean, its water is wet, and Wentz is injured, as two certainties in life.

Result WIN

Den -6 (o/u 45)

My Pick Broncos 34 Jaguars 15

Result Broncos 23 Jaguars 13

The Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence are going through growing pains; the Broncos might have the easiest schedule in NFL history with the Jets next week at home.

Result WIN

Buf +3.5 (o/u 47.5)

My Pick Bills 24 Dolphins 16

Score Bills 35 Dolphins 0

The Dolphins offensive line is a mess, Tua is hurt and heading to bustville, and the Dolphins season is on the brink sigh.

Result WIN

NE -5.5 (o/u 42.5)

My Pick Patriots 27 Jets 16

Score Patriots 25 Jets 6

Zach Wilson, what nickname works better? Mr. Int or Wilson Picked Off? Yup, the Jets still suck.

Result WIN

SF - 3 (o/u 50)

My Pick 49ers 31 Eagles 20

Score 49ers 17 Eagles 11

The Eagles should have won this game, but every good play was wiped out by a penalty, as the Niners escaped with a win.

Result WIN

Pitt -5.5 (o/u 47)

My Pick Steelers 23 Raiders 6

Score Raiders 23 Steelers 17

Ben Roethlisberger moves slower than molasses at the North Pole, it is safe to say he is too old to cut the mustard, and the Raiders could be a dangerous team on the rise.

Result LOSS

Sunday's Late Games

Ari- 3.5 (o/u 50.5)

My Pick Cardinals 37 Vikings 17

Score Cardinals 34 Vikings 33

Kyler Murray is one of the league's most exciting players, and the Vikings still choke on game-winning field goals.

Result LOSS

TB -12.5 (o/u 52)

My Pick Buccaneers 41 Falcons 16

Score Buccaneers 48 Falcons 25

The Buccaneers are reign Super Bowl Champions, the Falcons are horrible. This one will be ugly as the Buccaneers sail to an easy win. I think this pregame pick is accurate.

Result WIN

LAC -3.5 (o/u 55)

My Pick Chargers 26 Cowboys 20

Score Cowboys 20 Chargers 17

The Chargers made too many mistakes to count, as the crowd being pro Dallas at home seemed to unnerve Justin Herbert.

Result LOSS

Ten +5.5 (o/u 53.5)

My Pick Seahawks 27 Titans 24

Score Titans 33 Seahawks 30

The Titans rallied in this game, as the Seahawks could not put them away when they were in command for three-quarters of the game. The Titans, who had a lousy Week 1, needed this rally and are poised to walk to the AFC South title easily.

Result WIN

Sunday Night

Bal + 3.5 (o/u 54.5)

My Pick Ravens 30 Chiefs 24

Score Ravens 35 Chiefs 35

This was a big win in more ways than one for Lamar Jackson, who finally outdueled Patrick Mahomes and got a big win in primetime for the Ravens, especially following a heart-wrenching loss in Vegas.

Result WIN

Monday Night

 GB -11 (o/u 48.5)

My Pick Packers 38 Lions 20

Score Packers 35 Lions 17

The Lions had the lead at halftime, but played traditional Detroit Football in the second half, with turnovers and penalties as Packers' fans got to R-E-L-A-X.
