Murls' Gambling Lunch Menu

As we are getting ready for Friday Happy Hour here in Europe all the crew in North America are making plans for lunch.  I cooked up some Euro hockey winners for you in a menu of European food that will line your pockets with cash and get you through this Friday workday with a taste of Europe.

Bar Snack: Utopenci- Pickled smoked sausages found in pubs all over the Czech Republic. Throw them in a jar with mustard, onions, spices, and whatever else you can find, and then enjoy with your cold beer. FYI Pilsner Urquell is hands down the best Czech beer.

11:00 am Est. Extraliga- Ocelári Trinec ml -165

11:30 am Est. Extraliga- Vitkovice Steel 3-way -134

Appetizer: Kaalikääryleet- Cabbage rolls stuffed with minced meat or vegetables served with a side of sauce. Finns will get waffled in their saunas, run down to a freezing cold lake jump in, get out and then dummy these rolls.

11:30 am Est. SM-Liiga- Pelicans 3-way -132

Soup: Borscht- Beet soup with a bunch of steamed vegetables added in. Found at all KHL pregame meals in Russia, I used to love topping it with a scoop of sour cream. More on Russian pregame meals at a later date.

12:30 pm Est. KHL- SKA ml-106

Main Course: Wiener Schnitzel- Veal cutlet breaded and deep-fried served with some variety of potatoes.  During my time in the DEL in Nuremberg, we had a place that would make their wiener schnitzel into an American Veal Parmigiana for pregame and it was amazing. Wow, do I miss the pregame meal talking shop with the boys, and eating like a buffoon guilt-free.

Dessert: Swiss Chocolate- yes everyone knows about Swiss chocolate, but it's no stereotype, the stuff was amazing. Playing in the NLA I had a superstition to eat a bar before every game, maybe it was for good luck or maybe I just wanted the excuse.

After Lunch Drink: Check back later there will be another Spittin' Chiclets Boost and my other NHL plays as we need to confirm starting goals, covid lists, coaching changes, and all the other craziness going on in the league right now before we put our cash in play.
