Winners From Russia Just Feel Better, Plus A Few Names For Olympic Rosters

Breaking news last night from Spittin’ Chiclets: NHL players will not be going to Beijing this year for the Olympics.  No fear EBR is here, this was always a possibility and we should be installed as GM for the teams since no one follows the European leagues more than the crew.

Big game today CSKA @ Jokerit is on ESPN+ today and will feature a couple of players that should be playing for their country in Beijing.  The North American teams will be looking to players from around the world to fill out the rosters to bring home a medal come February.

Jokerit Helsinki:  sounds like “Jo-carrot” in Helsinki, Finland has 2 players that should be locks to make Team USA.  The majority owner of the team is Jari Kurri.

Brian O’Neil - Currently is 3rd in KHL scoring and what is even more impressive is he plays defense.  This D-man recorded 4 points in 5 games for Team USA in the last Olympics and will be patrolling the blue line in Beijing.

Jordan Schoeder- Is the typical player that always excels when making the move to Europe. This North American split most of his years between the AHL and NHL and is currently in his 3rd year playing in the KHL and has produced consistently each year.

CSKA Moscow

John Gilmour- is as steady of a defenseman that can be found in the KHL. He logs a lot of ice time for CSKA and recently played well for Team Canada in the Channel One Cup. He should be a top 6 for the Canada team when the Olympics roll around.

Best Bet: Turning our attention back to the matters on hand with the game today.  O’Neil is listed as a scratch for Jokerit and with him out of the game this leaves a huge void offensively. He also plays a lot of minutes and is an important player on special teams. The Red Army is a tough game when at full strength but being short-handed is too much of an ask.  CSKA just added Darren Dietz from Barys Astana, who is a big-time point producer in the KHL and will just add to a powerhouse team.
