Here Are The Goalies Who Should Start For Each Country At The 2022 Olympics
Canada - Eddie Pasquale - This North American journeyman has come to the KHL and been absolutely dominant. Always a good play to take the under when he’s in the pipes.
China - Jeremy Smith - Has played 3 years for Kunlun Red Star of the KHL. There’s no goalie in the world who faces more shots than Smith so he will be ready for the onslaught of chances his team will give up in this tourney.
Czechia - Simon Hrubec - Plays for Omsk of the KHL and led them to the Gagarin Cup Championship last season.
Denmark - Sebastian Dahm - Bounced around the OHL in his junior days, now plays for Klagenfurt, one of the top teams every year in the Austrian Ice Hockey League.
Finland - Harri Sateri - KHL veteran who had a cup of coffee with the Florida Panthers will give Finland a chance to win every game. If a game goes to a shootout, I'll be live betting Finland if Harri is in the pipes.
Germany - Mathias Niederberger - Plays for EBR favorite Eisbaren Berlin in the DEL and currently leads the league in save percentage and is 2nd in GAA.
Latvia - Janis Kalins - Goalie for Växjö in the SHL will have to stand on his head in order to keep Latvia is these games.
Russia - Ivan Fedotov - CSKA number 1 goalie should get the opportunity to start the tournament and own the crease. Big goalie that is very capable of carrying them to the Gold Medal.
Slovakia - Branislav Konrad - 34-year-old veteran now plays with Krejci in Olomouc and went 1-1 for the Slovaks in the last Olympics with a 2.40 GAA.
Sweden - Lars Johansson - SKA netminder is having a ridiculous year in the KHL leading the league with 9 shutouts. Will give Sweden an opportunity to reach the Gold Medal Game.
Switzerland - Reto Berra - Former NHLer most notably with Calgary and Colorado now plays for Fribourg in the Swiss A league.
USA - Strauss Mann - Michigan University product left school and did not head to the NHL or AHL but over to the Swedish Hockey League. Playing for Skelleftea in the north he leads the league in GAA and Save Percentage.
It's a long tournament so goalie rotations will happen, so before you make a wager, check the lineups to make sure you got the goalie you want in the pipes!!
